The Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for custodial management and operational maintenance at the Chaska Community Center (CCC). This position plays a key role in providing a great customer experience by ensuring a clean and well-maintained facility. The CCC is a multi-purpose recreational facility that welcomes all people and includes: 2 gymnasiums, indoor pool w/ water slides, fitness center, ice arena w/ 2 sheets of ice, indoor playground, theater, The Lodge for active older adults, and numerous multi-use spaces.
Core work hours will be Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm, with one day a week from 4:30am-12:30pm to open the facility and ability to flex based on the needs of the facility. Supervises, hires, schedules, evaluates and trains full-time Custodial staff and part-time Facility Attendants to ensure a clean and well-maintained facility for all patrons to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Develops and implements custodial policies and procedures utilizing industry best practices.
Performs maintenance and repairs on facility, outdoor grounds and all CCC operational equipment.
Ensures inventory of parts and supplies are available by working closely with department staff and outside vendors.
Acts as liaison to Public Works Facilities Maintenance division to assist with major mechanical equipment and remodeling/maintenance projects at CCC.
Assists in maintenance and upkeep of Parks & Recreation vehicles, skid loader, ice resurfaces and other specialty equipment. Coordinates with Public Works for necessary repair work.
Supports the Recreation team with evening and weekend events, this includes scheduling staff to assist as needed, set up and tear down of events, and providing AV assistance.
Works closely with Ice Arena Supervisor to schedule Facility Attendants to support evening/ weekend games, events and programs in the Ice Arena.
Works closely with the Fitness Supervisor to ensure clean and well-maintained fitness equipment.
Works alongside the Aquatics Supervisor to ensure proper water quality, monitoring of pump, filters, boiler, chemical feeders and disinfection systems. Coordinates and plans the bi-annual pool closure weeks.
Assists CCC Manager with budget preparation regarding custodial and operational maintenance needs.
Codes and submits all related financial records for CCC Manager approval.
Caries out and enforces CCC building policies and procedures.
Serve as a member of the CCC emergency response team. Responsible for understanding and knowing the EAP for all areas of the facility.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
Education and Experience
Post-secondary training in facility management, custodial management, aquatics management, arena management or a closely related field
Five years of experience of custodial cleaning methods and equipment operation and two years of demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to train staff
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of refrigeration systems and ice resurfacing equipment
Knowledge of general maintenance, custodial best practices, and grounds keeping
Knowledge of heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical, cable TV, security systems and communication systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office program (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Aquatic Facility Operator / Certified Pool Operator Certification or ability to obtain within first year of hire
American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire
Second Class C Boilers License or ability to obtain within first year of hire
Strong communication, leadership and customer service skills
Must be self-directed and detail oriented
Ability to multitask and remain calm in difficult situations

Ability to problem solve and exercise independent judgment
