What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Technician position at City of Conroe?
JOB SUMMARY
This position performs several job functions under the supervision of the City Buyer/Warehouse Supervisor. This individual is responsible for ordering and receiving stock items, the proper disbursement of all warehouse stock, and deliveries. Excellent communication skills are required to contact vendors and process orders to insure delivery in a timely manner. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the City's fuel depot to insure compliance with TNRCC regulations. The ability to operate heavy equipment is required to unload trucks using a forklift or front-end loader and do so in a safe manner. Forklift certification is a bonus. Other duties will include verifying deliveries for accuracy, cycle count inventory and set re-order points on all available stock. This position will be on call for 2 weeks at a time. Knowledge of computer-based inventory systems and industrial water/sewer fittings is required. A friendly and respectful mannerism toward staff and vendors is a must.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years of experience in supplies, inventory control, computer warehouse operations, and maintenance of records and receipts.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of computerized inventory control software and other Microsoft Office software is a must.
- Knowledge of fuel compliance records mandated by TNRCC.
- Knowledge of plumbing and vehicle maintenance items.
- Knowledge of water and sewer components is a must.
- Skill in communication in order to contact vendors to obtain pricing and place orders.
- Ability to properly record and distribute inventory.
- Ability to operate all general office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
