What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Open Gym Attendant position at City of Crystal?
To supervise and oversee the operation of preschool open gym program in a positive and enjoyable way that provides a safe and fun environment for both the children and their parents.
Part-time hours; Must be available Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm from October-April.
Able to take direction and work independently.
Excellent communication and public relations skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with other employees.
Knowledge or expertise with preschool age children.
Ability to accurately make change and handle money.
Desire CPR and First Aid Certification, as well as 6 months previous recreation program experience.
Must be available Wednesday mornings.Communications: Must have ability to actively listen to other for understanding of their needs and situations; ability to speak English clearly; ability to give directions and guidance clearly.
Decision Making: Must act in a decisive manner, using good judgment. Must be able to assess problems and situations, able to anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives. Must have a knowledge of the use of available resources, including a thorough knowledge of programs, facilities and their characteristics. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to schedule. Ability to understand and work in a safe manner. Must be able to read and understand directions.
Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and public. Must exclude personal biases from work performance. Must have the ability to work the assigned hours.
Professional Attitude: Must have commitment to the organization; willingness to take initiative; dependability; maturity in relationships with others; and self confidence. Must represent the organization to other agencies and citizens with a courteous, helpful, accurate and business-like attitude in all telephone and personal contact.
Quality of Work: Must be able to produce quality, accurate work. Must be able to detect and correct errors. Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to utilize work time properly and productively.
Physical Abilities: Normal vision needed with or without correction, if needed for class. Capable of reaching (extending the hands or arms in any direction); handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning and otherwise working with the hands); and fingering (picking, pinching, or otherwise working with the fingers), if needed for class. Normal hearing with or without correction, if needed for class.

- Keep daily attendance
- Handle daily admissions.
- Set-up and take down of open gym equipment.
- Completes paperwork as required by supervisor.
- Enforce safety rules.
- Maintain a safe atmosphere.
