The 2023 Summer Programs will be operating from Monday, June 12 to Friday, August 11 and may include Day Camp, Parks, Youth/Adult Sports, Facility Operations and city-wide Special Events. Qualified applicants must be available to work approximately 20-40 hours per week for morning, evening and weekend shifts. Mandatory, paid in-service trainings will be held on Wednesday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 30 (time TBD).
*There is an immediate need for Youth Sports (Volleyball) and Facility Operations.*Interviews for all available positions will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Day Camp - Under Immediate supervision, may direct, monitor, conduct, prepare, clean and assist with recreational programs and activities.
- Supervise and interact with youth participants ages 5-12 in a nine-week (Monday-Friday) summer camp program to ensure participant enjoyment and safety.
- Monitor and secure the proper use of program equipment and facilities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Parks - Under Immediate supervision, may direct, monitor, conduct, prepare, clean and assist with recreational programs and activities.
- Supervise and interact with youth participants ages 5-12 in a nine-week (Tuesday-Thursday) summer park program to ensure participant enjoyment and safety.
- Monitor and secure the proper use of program equipment and facilities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Youth and Adult Sports: Summer Sports Camp, Pee Wee Sports, Youth Basketball League, Youth Volleyball League, Challenger Basketball, and Drop-in Volleyball and Badminton
- Teaching basic sports skills to participants and assisting with the delivery of leisure service programs and community special events.
- Preparing and setting up the gym or athletic field for games and play.
- Supervising league play, interpreting rules and policies governing sports play and scorekeeping.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Facility Operations- Assisting with setting-up equipment (ex. tables and chairs) and supervising facilities for rentals and events.
- Open, close and secure facilities.
- Coordinating, overseeing, securing and directing the proper safe use of facilities and equipment.
- Cleaning of facilities and equipment before and after facility rentals and events or as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
RECREATION LEADER I – No previous related experience required. Must have equivalent to the completion of the tenth grade and be at least 16 years of age upon hire.
RECREATION LEADER II – Minimum of 250 paid and/or volunteer hours of employment in a recreation or community-based program, including public contact experience. Must have equivalent to the completion of the tenth grade and be at least 16 years of age upon hire.
RECREATION LEADER III – Minimum of 500 paid and/or volunteer hours of employment in a recreation or community-based program, including extensive public contact experience
and some college coursework majoring in a specialized field of program assignment or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education. Individual must be at least 18 years of age upon hire.
All positions require CPR, First Aid and AED certifications. Due to the performance of field duties, a valid California driver license and acceptable driving record may also be required.
