DUTIES
- Implementation, maintenance, and data validation of the LIMS in an environmental compliance laboratory; troubleshoot and debugging system issues.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure LIMS meets operational needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and maintain master data, including but not limited to, analysis configuration, sample scheduling & tracking, instrument & calibration management, and standards & regents management.
- Facilitate instrument integration with the LIMS; ensure data integration integrity.
- Configure query tags and access routines for results reporting through LIMS into departmental client databases or through Electronic Data Deliverables (EDD).
- Regularly reviews laboratory reports ensuring accurate and complete record maintenance; review and provide data analytics on key performance indicators, sample throughput, QC data, and result trends.
- Retrieve and compile laboratory data and reporting as required to meet client needs.
- Perform sample receiving and log-in.
- Perform second check on lab data (bench results, calculations, and LIMS data entry).
- Maintain, update and record documentation related to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Certificate of Analysis, Demonstrations of Capability, and regulatory compliance; assist with staff training, as needed.
- Administer LIMS user account access and system training.
- Assist with audits in support of the QA/QC Program.
- Assist laboratory personnel,perform field sampling, event scheduling, and implementation of sampling plans.
- Perform routine operational control and permit compliance testing for weekend and holiday laboratory work rotation, including but not limited to BOD, CBOD, TSS, pH, NH3, Coliform, turbidity, conductivity, and turbidity testing.

- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Computer Science or related field; and,
- Two (2) years’ experience working with environmental, water and/or wastewater laboratories, LIMS, LabWare, and/or laboratory software,
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Knowledge of Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, laboratory instrumentation, and analytical requirements of an environmental laboratory.

- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and laboratory equipment, including computer and peripherals, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
- Lifting: Light lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.
- Environment: Works in an office and laboratory setting with exposure to heat, cold, noise, odor, and chemicals; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Requires routine operational control and permit compliance testing for weekend and holiday laboratory work rotation.
