What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Forester position at City of Detroit?
1. Directs and monitors the work of crews.
2. Contacts, takes information from and provides information to the public regarding requests for tree service or general information.
3. Surveys streets and parks to locate broken limbs, branches or other defects and issues instructions for clearing damage.
4. Participates in the rotation of 'storm call' emergency duties.
5. Conducts special forestry surveys and prepares related reports.
6. Evaluates tree conditions.
One year of experience in forestry work that involved directing the work of crews and the treatment of diseases and control of insects that affect them.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Employees certified or promoted to this class must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Pesticide Commercial Applicator Certification in categories 3A, 3B and 6 as designated by the General Services Department.
Candidates considered for placement in this classification may be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation based on the requirements of the position.Evaluation Plan
