Under general direction of the Building Maintenance Superintendent, this professional is responsible for multiple sites and performs various custodial supervisory functions, supervises part time union custodial and non-union janitorial staff, schedules daily work, and prioritizes custodial and janitorial projects. This work is performed during our evening shift (3 pm - 11 pm with some flexibility) and at various city owned buildings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervises and directs team to perform a variety of cleaning functions at multiple sites.
Schedules daily work to ensure proper completion of daily cleaning and work order data entry.
Inspects the buildings to insure proper procedures are being executed.Provides training to custodial and janitorial staff members.
Prioritizes and schedules custodial and janitorial project work.
Maintains cleaning supply inventory.
Inspects cleaning equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
Works closely with Maintenance Superintendent to evaluate programs and employees, and suggest and implement changes as needed.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide timely feedback to team members.Responsible for reviewing payroll hours recorded for team members.
May have responsibility for approving or denying requests for time off.
Ensures cleaning operations are completed in place of absent employees.
Responsible for communicating and supporting City policies and ensuring the completion of mandatory training.Responsible for staying current with industry information and trends.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requires knowledge of professional cleaning standards and methods
Requires knowledge of OSHA level training in bloodbourne pathogens, cleaning contaminated work environments, handling potentially infectious materials and contaminated equipment, cleaning and disinfecting high touch areas, HazMat and safety in the workplace training
Requires ability to assign work and monitor its accomplishments.

Requires ability to provide training to custodial staff.
Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a valid Illinois Drivers License and completion of four years of high school or GED Certificate. Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in the custodial field with at least 3 years of supervisory experience. Must have knowledge and experience with the “team cleaning” process. Specialized certification or training in custodial or janitorial services such as IJCSA certification, OSHAcademy, Cloroxpro, and/or P&G professional is helpful. Since the current team is predominately Spanish speaking at this time, Spanish language proficiency is helpful and preferred but not required.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
