Salary Range: $23.51 - $29.29 hourly / $48,900.80 - $60,923.20 annually

Work Location(s): Downtown Library (100 W. 10th Ave.); Bethel Branch (1990 Echo Hollow Rd.). Must reside in the state of Oregon and be able to report onsite for work as needed.

Non-Represented Retirement Program: Upon eligibility, the City will contribute an employee contribution of 6%, as well as the employer contribution, to a retirement program administered by the Oregon Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). In addition, the City will pay a 3% contribution to a deferred compensation program if the employee contributes at least 1%.
Bilingual Pay Benefit: This position qualifies for up to an additional 5% of base salary for bilingual pay. Please see “Supplemental Information” at the end of the posting for more information.

- May research, schedule, plan, organize, and develop program ideas, develop materials, coordinate program logistics.
- Creates high quality, research-based experiences for all ages, including identifying and evaluating goals and objectives.
- These positions may include outreach and relationship building with local educators and community partners, as well as intentionally connecting with the school district around curriculum and goals to serve children farthest from educational justice.
- Performs duties of Library Assistant 1 and 2 and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications will be considered.
Experience:
Three years of clerical library support or technical library support experiences directly related to the assigned program area.
Education/Training:
High school diploma; some college preferred.Other combinations of education/experience that meet minimums include:
A master's degree in library science or a literary- or human services-related field, plus one year of clerical or technical library support experience, including one year directly related experience.
OR
A bachelor's degree in library science or a literary- or human services-related field, plus two years of clerical or technical library support experience, including one year directly related experience.
MUST PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of professional library work including reference, programming, core technology skills, emerging trends, databases, web tools, community outreach and engagement, and working with youth.
- Bilingual ability in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and/or Japanese highly desirable.
- Develop and implement library programs and services to meet the needs of the community. Perform technical and complex professional library tasks.
- Assist library patrons in reference, information needs, and technology support with enthusiasm and compassion.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and respectful work relationships.
- Think creatively, innovate, and take risks.
What to Expect from our Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training. The selection process varies according to the position and can include such things as screening of supplemental questionnaires, written or skill tests, ability or fitness tests, interviews, and assessment processes. In addition, background investigations and records checks may be required. Some positions also require applicants to have a psychological evaluation and/or physical examination and a drug test prior to employment.
