POSITION FOCUS
The Finance Director will be a strategic leader with a forward-looking and collaborative approach to finance in the City. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop creative solutions to complex financial problems and a proven track record of public sector fiscal management.
The City’s Finance Director is a hands-on administrator who takes an active role in the daily operations of the department. This individual will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong customer service focus, and the balance of technical and soft skills needed to train, mentor, and coach staff as well as the leadership skills needed to act as the bridge that connects the finance department with other departments.
GENERAL NATURE & SCOPE OF WORK
Under the direction of the Mayor or Senior Executive Director, this position directs all financial activities of the City. Responsibilities include oversight of the Finance Management, Accounting, Budget, and Procurement divisions and the City Clerk-Treasurer's Office, financial planning, investments, cash management, debt management, and internal controls. The work is reviewed through conferences, reports and effectiveness of department activities and programs. Supervision is exercised over a staff of 23 professional and administrative employees.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A combination of education and related experience may substitute for education requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or Business Administration, advanced degree preferred and
- Minimum of 7 years increasingly responsible related experience, including 5 years experience in a management/supervisory position and
- Designation as a CPA is preferred.
- Must be bondable.
