SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the department head or designee, performs a variety of clerical tasks where typing is a significant portion of the work. Tasks include service to City residents and providing detailed information.
This position is typically assigned to the Water Department
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Work may be performed for the department head and/or other department supervisory staff members.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in typing, bookkeeping and office machines.
Over 6 months or more of general office experience.
Ability to perform routine tasks with little or no supervision.
Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic, punctuation, filing and grammar, and the possession of a superior vocabulary.
Typing/keyboarding skill level of 40 words per minute or greater.
Ability to effectively carry out work assignments according to oral and written instructions and City rules and policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other employees, community leaders as well as other Departments within the City.
Possess skills and competence at the basic level or higher with computers and computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher), Internet, and BS&A.
