RECRUITMENT NOTICE- OPEN UNTIL FILLED
POSITION: Recruit PoliceOfficer
Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt, Represented Position
SALARY: Step 1:$5269/month. 5% merit increase based on satisfactory performance every 12 months through Step 7. Cost of living increases: 2%-1/1/2023; 3%- 7/1/2023; 2%-1/1/2024. Minimum 3%, maximum 5%-7/1/24. Incentives available.
GENERAL STATEMENT
Performs law enforcement and crime prevention by patrol and investigations, controls traffic, enforces state and local traffic regulations and other ordinances and laws, protects the life and property of the citizens of Gladstone, does related law enforcement activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. A two-year community college degree or vocational school training in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of hire.
Must be a citizen of the United States within 18 months of employment or a nonimmigrant legally admitted to the United States under a Compact of Free Association
Must be able to speak, read and write the English language; bilingual ability in Spanish preferred.
Requires a good driving record and must possess or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Oregon Driver's License.
Must successfully pass all facets of this recruitment process in order to assure the candidates ability to perform the essential functions of the job and pass the City’s security clearance standards for unescorted access to certain City facilities.
SELECTION PROCESS
1 Candidates submit a City of Gladstone application and supplemental documents.
2 Qualified candidates will be invited to an oral board.
3 The top candidate(s) will be invited for an Executive Interview.
4 A conditional job offer and a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) packet will be given to the top candidate(s). Once the packet is returned a background investigation including a credit check will be completed on the top candidate(s).
5 Upon successful completion of the background process appointment(s) will be scheduled for medical and psychological exams.
6 After successfully completing all steps of this recruitment process, a formal final job offer will be given to the top candidates(s).
The selection process will begin once applications are received so the earlier the City receives your application materials the sooner you will be considered for employment.
Military veterans who submit the required documentation along with their application materials will receive appropriate veteran preference points on the City-scored portions of this recruitment process.
