GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
The purpose of the class is to provide probation supervision and guidance to probationers and pretrial defendants referred to the Criminal Justice Agency by the courts.
Minimum requireuments:* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, or related field of study.
* Minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with at-risk individuals.
* Knowledge of the criminal justice process and local judicial system; knowledge of the problems associated with offenders.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Qualifiers:
* Must possess or obtain VCIN certification within ninety (90) days of employment.
* Must possess a valid driver’s license and have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
* This position is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
* Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
