Description
The City of Highland Village is hiring a Part-Time Fire Inspector to ensure our city remains safe while citizens visit our businesses. This community is a vibrant, family-oriented community in southern Denton County. You will serve our over 400 businesses and schools by connecting with them and ensuring all buildings are up to code.
The duties of this position are to conduct life safety inspections in all commercial buildings and enforce compliance with the uniform fire and city codes. In addition, the Fire Inspector must communicate effectively, enforce fire codes and regulations, and use the maintenance record system effectively.
Job Requirements
The Part-Time Fire Inspector must have the following:
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree in Fire Protection Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field of study, or a minimum of sixty (60) college credits, is preferred.
- Must possess Fire Inspector through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
- Fire Investigator through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection is preferred.
- Knowledge of firefighting, fire prevention practices, and techniques, as well as considerable knowledge of fire laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations, is preferred.
- Must have good oral and written communications skills, ability to read and understand codes, knowledge of personnel policies, rules, regulations, and practices for regulatory agencies, and work with Standard Operating Guidelines.
