What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern position at City of Irving?
This is a part time, entry-level position that will be trained to be a call taker for the City of Irving’s IT Department helpdesk. Duties include assisting customers that call the helpdesk for technology support or visit the IT Express window for quick technical assistance; entering and reviewing service tickets as they come in and making sure that they are assigned to the right queue; and handling a variety of administrative special projects from time to time. Duties will require fantastic customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor, both critical for this position. We will provide all necessary training in a wide variety of basic technology support skills covering city cell phones, network services and software. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or have completed major course work in a directly related field within the past year, and be at least 18 years of age. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
