Description:
Duties: The Transportation Planner provides technical and project management oversight of transit planning studies and/or projects. Reviews and prepares conceptual planning and environmental documents for City of Jackson's JTRAN expansion program, i.e. tranist expansion corridors. Conducts and/or participate in transit planning studies inclusive of transit feasibility studies, peer agency reviews, operations analysis and other transit related planning activities. Develop corridor specific transit service plans including ridership estimation and capital and/or operating costs pursuit to FTA grant funding. Participates in internal and external public meetings, community meetings, and other public outreach efforts. Develops, review and evaluates scopes of work, project budgets and project deliverables. Prepares and presents technical materials to Transit Services Management. Prepare technical briefings for outside agencies, neighborhood associations and elected officials. Work with regional liaison and planning coordination with the Transit staff and other regional stakeholders/planning partners. Continually monitor and improve services based on the industry standards. To perform other duties as assigned.
Certifications: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible transportation planning experience. A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning or a related field.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
