What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Production Assistant Superintendent position at City of Kerrville?
Oversee the operations of the water production facilities and ensure compliance with all TCEQ, EPA and other relevant regulations. Supervise personnel and perform process control duties as directed by Water Production Superintendent. This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. - Supervise the Water Treatment Plant by determining proper feed rates, adjusting chemical feeds, use standard method for testing chemical concentrations.
- Prepare hardware and treated water for discharge into distribution system.
- Write reports, compile data, and distribute this data as directed by the Water Production Superintendent.
- Oversee the general maintenance of water systems by coordinating routine maintenance duties, emergency repairs, and daily assignments; assist operators with daily operations.
- Assist with the departmental budget by managing petty cash disbursements, maintaining records, monitoring expenditures, and making reports to the Water Production Superintendent.
- Provide training to new personnel on plant operations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain the safety program by ensuring personnel have necessary safety equipment, adhere to proper safety techniques, and procedures.
- Work directly with Water Production Superintendent, report decisions on process control adjustments, and assignments of duties to subordinates.
- Assist in developing and managing the annual budget and all related tasks.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Working knowledge of Water Production systems, procedures, and regulations.

- Ability to maintain good and acceptable working relationships with staff, other government officials and members of the public.
- Ability to work an irregular schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in Water Production or a related field. Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Possession of, or obtain within five years of employment, a Class B Surface Water Operator License.
- Possession of, or obtain within one year of employment, a Class C Ground Water Operator License.
- Possession of, or obtain within one year of employment, a Class C Surface Water Operator License.
