The City of Lansing Fire Department is seeking a Full Time Fire Department Logistics Division Secretary 27 to perform essential functions for the Lansing Fire Department Maintenance Chief and Logistics staff .
Tracking and payment responsibility of purchase orders, expense reports, procurement cards, requisitions, including meticulous record keeping of equipment testing and certification of equipment for LFD fire stations.
As an LFD colleague, you will operate as the point of contact (POC) liaison between the Lansing Fire Department and various vendors within the LFD Logistics Division which provides insight into the importance of this position .

Ideal candidates may qualify with :
- Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field AND
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of office experience which includes work with personal computer systems OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Prior experience using Office MS Suite programs preferred.
- Must demonstrate typing proficiency of 45 wpm or higher.
Responsibilities include but not limited to :
- Responsible to keeping the Chief of Fire / Maintenance on track in regard to his calendar, purchase orders, visa bills, access control and correspondence with internal and external sources.
- Responsible to Chief of Fire / Maintenance to track quotes, orders and inventories for equipment, and supplies. Prepare expense reports for accounts receivable and account discrepancies.
- Enters requisitions and purchase orders, processes invoices, and vouches for payments using the City’s automated purchasing system.
- Maintains records of payments made by voucher, check or credit card.
- Assist Maintenance Alarm Personnel with maintaining the Maintenance and Alarm Division record keeping system including tracking incoming requisitions for repairs or supplies from stations and divisions, entering and printing clothing requisition slips, tracking clothing requisitions filled, and tracking stations and EMS supply inventories.
- Maintains records of testing and certification of equipment, and placed requisitions with Building Maintenance for facility maintenance.
