The City of Las Vegas invites applications for Video Control Operator. Under general supervision, this position programs and maintains and monitors an automated video playback system to run daily television programming as scheduled on the City’s government access television station as well as streaming platforms; responsible for independently researching and acquiring television programming and public service announcements from external sources; and performs tasks related to assigned area of responsibility.
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current and/ or future openings which may include part-time or full-time positions.

Receives general supervision from higher-level management staff.

Experience:
Two years of experience operating and maintaining an automated video playback system and in television program scheduling, or two years of experience as a video editor, master control operator, tape operator or production control technician.
Training:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major in television production, information systems or a field related to the essential functions.
A combination of formal education and directly related work experience may substitute for the degree. The city assesses 1.5 years of fulltime experience as equivalent to one year of education.
Knowledge of:
Automated video playback system operation.
Television scheduling practices and priorities.
Basic professional video operations, video and audio editing, television equipment operation and computer operation.
Desktop publishing software for video graphic and text layout.
Basic cable television practices and policies.
Television programming rights, fees and acquisition practices.
Principles and practices of record keeping.
Basic cataloging techniques and practices.
Common office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, email and calendar.
Basic methods of research and analysis.Skills in:
Programming and operating an automated video playback system.
Scheduling programming according to established policy.
Operating semi-automated video systems.
Strong computer knowledge and experience.
Operating desktop publishing software.
Cataloging and maintaining media files.
Screening programming for appropriate content and quality.
Researching and evaluating sources of television programming and public service announcements.
