GENERAL PURPOSE:

Manage and supervise operations of the Hatfield Chilson Recreation/Senior Center, facilities, programs and staff.

The salary range for this position is $59,600.00- $92,400.00 per year with a hiring range of $59,600.00 - $76,000.00, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position will close to applicants on: Monday, 7/25/22 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure consistent, quality service is provided throughout facilities and programs.
  • Manage and supervise full-time facility, fitness and senior center staff.
  • Coordinate activity and program schedules.
  • Resolves administrative concerns in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and monitor facility budget. Coordinate expenditures and revenues as well as collaborate to maximize opportunities.
  • Maintain a detailed record system that includes collection, assembly, analysis of data, and preparation of reports.
  • Manage and maintain the facilities as well as all equipment. Accurate analysis of facility custodial, equipment, maintenance and replacement system data.
  • Maximizes public awareness of the recreation facilities. Plan and implement comprehensive and consistent marketing and promotion programs.
  • Effectively promote awareness and demonstrate a commitment to safety for staff and guests.
  • Display original thinking to meets challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Provide quality customer service to guests and citizens and create a customer service orientation for staff consistent with City customer service standards.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Serves as department liaison on City and community committees, gives tours of facilities. Oversees concession stands. Assists with special events as requested.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

This position is a first-line supervisor responsible for supervision of non-exempt and/or non-supervisory exempt employee(s).

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must interact and work successfully with co-workers and the public.
  • Accepts personal responsibility for actions.
  • Must successfully supervise and operate recreation facilities.
  • Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must act with excellent customer service skills and lead the customer service effort for the facility staff.
  • Prepare reports, monitor budgets and utilize math principles.
  • Adhere to high ethical and professional standards.
  • Possess knowledge and experience working with Excel spreadsheets, Word, Power Point, and related operating software.

Education and/or experience:

B.S. or four-year degree in recreation or related field required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time administrative/management experience in recreation supervision, recreation facility or health/wellness club operations or in a closely related field required. Experience successfully managing staff is required. Experience with recreation software such as RecTrac highly desired.


Licensure and/or certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license. National certification as a CPRP is highly desirable.


Material and equipment directly used:

Personal computer, printer, cash register, telephone, photocopier, fax machine


Working conditions and physical requirements:

Work requires movement to all areas of the Chilson facility and travel to off site recreation locations. Requires bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, kneeling, and climbing to perform tasks normally associated with this position. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Experience
