What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Gas Department position at City of Martin?
Laborers assists in the installation of gas service lines and mains; repair of gas leaks; cleaning and restocking assigned vehicle(s) with appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and supplies; and establishing and maintaining a safe work zone. Candidate must have knowledge & skills of job related safety practices & procedures; hand tools, test equipment, and smaller power tools; occupational hazards associated with the work; operating various types of motorized construction equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the natural gas distribution system; analyzing problems and identifying solutions; establishing cooperative and productive working relationships; setting priorities for completing projects; interpersonal relations; and oral and written communications.
Minimum Qualifications for Positions:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s license
· Pass a background check including drug screening test
· Good Communication Skills
· Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Hourly rate: $15.00/hour.
