What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Instructor position at City of New Albany?
The Gymnastics Instructor will lead instruction in all areas of gymnastics programming while providing excellent customer service and experience. The Gymnastics Instructor will also direct Gymnastics Instructor Assistants during programming.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- *Assist in overseeing planning and operations for gymnastics program in direct coordination with Recreation Director.
- *Develop and execute the lesson(s) and skill(s) development plans while directing assistants.
- *Assist with variety of program and activity support such as getting supplies and equipment, setting up certain equipment, directing participants during events, and overseeing cleanup of facility and equipment.
- *Create a high-energy atmosphere to keep the class fun while maintaining the highest level of safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform gymnastic workouts and/or routines.

- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- This position requires working in an internal environment.
- This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Two yearss previous experience in gymnastics or teaching is preferred.
- A minimum of 16 years of age.
- Knowledge of spotting techniques used in gymnastics required.
- Ability to demonstrate basic through advanced technique and form.
