The role of this position is essential in our organization's geospatial data management by focusing on office duties that leverage GIS, CAD, and data information systems, with a primary emphasis on electrical facilities documentation in the field. This role involves physically visiting sites to record detailed information on electrical infrastructure, including poles, lines, substations, and other utility assets. The objective is to ensure accurate mapping and analysis for utility management, planning, and operational efficiency.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. GIS Field Data Collection: Execute field data collection activities utilizing GPS devices, survey equipment, and specialized field data collection tools.
2. Data Integration: Assist in integrating field-collected data into GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards.
3. CAD Systems Operation: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems to support mapping and spatial analysis tasks, collaborating with other team members to enhance overall project efficiency.
4. Mapping and Cartography: Contribute to the creation and updating of maps using GIS software, ensuring the effective representation of spatial data for internal and external stakeholders.
5. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance checks on Electric facilities to identify and rectify discrepancies, ensuring the reliability and precision of the information.
6. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of GIS-related activities, including data collection methodologies, mapping processes, and any issues encountered during fieldwork.
7. City Vehicle Operation: Drive a city vehicle to project sites, ensuring safe and efficient transportation while continuously getting in and out of the vehicle for fieldwork activities.
