Review project plans ensuring conformance with city specifications, standards, and policies. Provide project inspections, commercial and residential permit inspections, and work within the right-of-way inspections ensuring conformance with city specifications, standards, and policies. Inspect and monitor items related to site grading, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, waterlines, street construction and a variety of other construction activities. Perform necessary testing for streets, waterlines, and sanitary sewers, including nuclear density tests for subgrades and asphalt pavement. Maintain acceptable project documentation and filing practices. Respond to citizen complaints and inquiries in a professional manner. Assist with snow removal operations as needed. Other duties as assigned. Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, material testing, or construction experience on public improvement projects preferred. Education: High school diploma required. College level coursework in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of or ability to obtain the following certifications within one year: IMSA Work Zone Safety, Erosion and Sediment Control, and Nuclear Density Gauge Safety.
