THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEED.

NATURE OF WORK:

This position requires working outdoors and in the elements, The job as a Park Ranger includes but not limited to: patrolling any and all City Parks, enforcing Park Rules and City Ordinances, educating citizens about rules and City Ordinances, serves as an ambassador on the City’s behalf, reporting issues within the parks and surrounding areas to the proper authorities, working around wildlife at times.  Work is performed under the General Supervision of the Park Manager.  Work is performed primarily outdoors and employee may be subject to extreme weather conditions and working various schedules, to include overnight. 

High School Diploma or equivalent, plus (2) two years of customer service and/or security/enforcement area required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Must be able to work in all types of weather. A person in this position must be able to walk, sit, kneel, bend, reach, push and pull approximately 25 pounds for a short distance and is required to work rotating hours including nights and weekends.  


VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE OR STATE ID FROM ANY STATE MUST BY PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW.  VALID FLORIDA DRIVER'S LICENSE OR ID MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or 
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
