About Our Job
Various opportunities in the Recreation Department may be available, including positions related to summer programs, youth programs, special events, sports, games, leagues, open gyms, lessons, camps, classes and / or other activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with, plans, supervises, sets up / tears down, organizes, teaches, trains, conducts, and / or leads recreation programs including, but not limited to arts / crafts, games, field trips / outings, summer programs, youth programs, special events, sports, leagues, open gyms, lessons, camps, classes and / or other activities.
- Works with groups of children and / or adults to maintain their order, safety, and well-being.
- Responds to emergency situations and assist or rescue program participants in distress utilizing established rescue techniques.
- Keeps participants informed of rules and regulations.
- May be required to accurately report and record incidents involving staff or program participants.
- May perform custodial services to maintain a clean and orderly facility.
- May provide safe transportation of children and staff.
- May supervise and / or train other staff members.
- May perform opening and / or closing duties.
- May utilize Recreation Department materials, supplies, equipment or vehicles and must return these items in clean working condition.
- May monitor and record student progress for proper class placement.
- May provide direct assistance to encourage program participation.
- May work in varied locations with changing job duties as assigned.
Schedule and hours will vary.

Requirements :
- Age : Must be at least 14 years old to apply. Some positions require a minimum age of 18 or older.
- Education and / or Experience : Relevant experience and / or training preferred depending on specific job duties.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : CPR and First Aide certification preferred, training may be available. Other certifications may be preferred or required depending on specific job duties.
Physical Demands : May be required to sit, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, stoop, and / or squat for long periods of time. An employee will frequently be required to bend, climb stairs or ladders, use hand and finger dexterity, and use eye-to-hand coordination.
An employee will occasionally be required to balance, run, push, and pull. Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds, occasionally required to lift and / or carry up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment : This position may work indoors or outdoors depending on the location assigned and locations may vary from day to day.
May be exposed to adverse weather conditions or temperatures such as : heat, cold, wind, rain, snow or humidity. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, large groups of individuals and moving traffic.
Noise level can vary from moderate to very loud.
