Ravenna Parks and Recreation has been providing a high quality summer day camp for 82 years. We partner with local organizations both for profit and non-profit to round out the campers experience through field trips, games, sports, arts and crafts, gardening and much more.
City Park of Dreams is the home base for our summer camp and our staff is the backbone of this program. As a Camp Supervisor, we guarantee you will feel a part of the Ravenna Day Camp Team.
As a Camp Supervisor, you will implement leisure programs for children and teens in our summer day camps, and will assist the Camp Director with a variety of daily tasks, all with the goal of creating a memorable and meaningful camp experience for your campers. Camp Supervisors should be self-motivated, have an outgoing personality with leadership skills, have knowledge of young people’s interests with teamwork and problem solving abilities, and be able to provide emergency response.

Camp Supervisor Responsibilities
- Maintaining inventories
- Staff training and scheduling
- Liaising with parents
- Recording attendance, monitoring outings
- Assisting in the development of camp curriculum.
- Support Camp Director in establishing rules and emergency procedures with campers
- Participate in all camp activities
- Help out where needed and lead activities when asked to by the Camp Director.
Camp Supervisor Requirements
- Completed at least one year of college or equivalent
- Previous camp supervisor experience a plus
- 2 years experience in child care or related field.
- 1 year experience in supervisory or lead position
- Upon hire, completion of the provided First Aid/ CPR certification
- Possess a valid Driver’s license
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, canoeing, swimming, team building initiatives, building campfires, physical games, and activities.
- Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 90 pounds and able to traverse hilly and uneven terrain without undue exertion.
- Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Perform essential program support to camp activities and programs which may include, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
- Must have the ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 200 pounds).
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks outdoors in varying climates.
- Must pass a drug screen and complete a full background check performed by Ravenna P.D.
- CPR/First Aid Certified OR willing to become certified before the summer begins
Staff members must be available to work the full camp season: June through August; up to 40 hours per week; Pay is $12.50 per hour.
