Under supervision, assists with the organization, implementation, and supervision of special programs; provides clerical support, assists with the operation of facilities, and provides service to the public. Exercises no supervision.
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Assists with the development and implementation of programs by conducting research, planning, and scheduling activities, and prepares promotional materials;
- Coordinates set-up, take down and maintains facilities;
- Maintains accurate records and prepares various reports;
- Provides customer service and supervises program activities and participants;
- Registers participants, collects fees, prepares deposits;
- Coordinates, schedules, and oversees a wide variety of recreation and community service programs, rentals, activities, and events; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience:Program Aid I:- A minimum of one year (or 1,000 hours) of paid or volunteer experience working with the public.
- Experience in the coordination of recreational programs and activities and/or special events is desirable.
Program Aid II:- Two years of experience coordinating recreational program, activities, and/or special events;
Education:- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
Licenses and Certificates:- Possess, or ability to possess and maintain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment; and,
- Possession of valid First Aid and CPR certificates at time of hire.
Special Requirements:Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:- Ability to work in a standard office environment;
- Ability to travel to different sites and locations;
- Must be able to communicate with others and to exchange information accurately;
- Required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms;
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl;
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
- Exposure to outdoors, heat, and noise.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends.
