What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - Traffic Engineering position at City of Richmond?
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Maintenance Technician, Senior with the Traffic Engineering Division. The incumbents will be responsible for performing tasks installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and signage.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Removing, installing, and maintaining signs, sign post, and other traffic control devices, throughout the City of Richmond
- Performing technical work in the operation of equipment related to street striping with the application of paint and thermoplastic street markings
- Performing routine maintenance for assigned equipment
- Maintaining, cleaning and repairing paint machines, post drivers, sign making system and hand tools
- Performing other related duties as required
** City of Richmond Public Works employees who work in this class are considered essential personnel and will be required to work during declared emergencies and major weather events. **
The selected candidates will be required to work 24 hour on-call, weekend and holiday call duty as scheduled.
- Requires high school diploma or GED, and training equivalent to the satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training;
- Requires three years of experience;
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
- May require valid state driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Selected candidates must have a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
