The City of Salem has a new career opportunity and is recruiting for a Signal Electrician. This position will perform electrical work using journey-level skills to design, modify, install, inspect, maintain, and repair City electrical and electronic systems, and other equipment.
What you will do:
The Electrician duties require both team and independent work. Typical work duties include the installation and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment such as traffic signals, street lighting, wiring, flashing beacons, and copper and fiber-optic communication equipment. Work is performed at a level consistent with licensing requirements by the State of Oregon for General Journeyman Electrician.

Position Schedule:
- Monday through Thursday, 6:30am to 5:00pm, plus overtime and standby.
- Standby duty requires a 60 minute response time to report to work.
- Must pass the pre-employment background check.
- Must have an Oregon Driver license with CDL endorsement, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hiring, and meet the City of Salem’s driving standards.
- If the applicant does not have a CDL, the City will provide CDL training.
- Must pass a drug test (including marijuana).
- Must possess State of Oregon General Journeyman Electrician license.
- Graduation from high school, or G.E.D., supplemented by the completion of technical courses in pump repair, electricity, electronic instrumentation, or related subjects; and two years journey-level experience in the electrical trades OR any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the examples of work.
