For fun at work, just add water! Make a splash this summer working at the Shawnee Municipal pools! We are currently hiring for outdoor lifeguards to ensure the safety of all patrons and staff within the Shawnee Municipal Pools. Individuals serving in this position are responsible for enforcing all rules and regulations of the facility as well as responding to all emergency situations that may arise in the aquatic environment. Pay for the Lifeguard position begins at $15.00 per hour. Additional compensation is provided for employees who return after each season.

Individuals serving in this position are responsible for enforcing all rules and regulations of the facility as well as responding to all emergency situations that may arise in the aquatic environment. Position Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of patrons to the pools by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations.
- Responding quickly to all emergency situations and administering first aid when necessary.
- Communicating with other Lifeguards and facility staff the need for additional assistance or equipment in an emergency.
- Report suspicious activities to supervisors.
- Enforcing rules and regulations of the facility. Educating and informing patrons of the rules and regulations of the pool as necessary.
- Complete accurate reports related to the municipal pools and submit them to management in a timely manner.
- Provide a safe, clean and organized environment for patrons.
- Attend weekly in-service training sessions.
- Attend in-service meetings as scheduled.
- Perform other related duties as requested or assigned by the Pool Manager or Aquatics Director.
- Must be 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2025
- All candidates must possess the following certifications, or have the ability to obtain them prior to beginning employment:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (National Pool & Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program Certification)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- First Aid Certification
- AED Certification
- Oxygen Administration Certification
