The City Manager is responsible for the financial and operational oversight of the organization. This includes police and fire operations, emergency preparedness, emergency medical response, street and storm drainage maintenance, comprehensive parks and recreation programming, transportation management, planning and zoning management, codes administration, and general administrative services. In addition to implementing City Council’s vision, policies, and directives, the city manager assists the community and its leaders with establishing short-term and long-term goals and developing long-range plans in areas such as capital projects and land use, enforces ordinances, and ensures compliance with state and federal laws. The City Manager will help craft and administer a roughly $113 million budget with a tax rate of 24.004 mills, and oversee the work of 342 full-time and 15 part-time employees. Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree is required, Master's preferred
- Seven to ten years of increasingly responsible managerial, supervisory, and administrative experience in municipal government or a related field
- Prior experience as a City Manager, Deputy City Manager, or Assistant City Manager in a growing community of similar size and complexity is preferred
