DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of a Recreation Supervisor, coordinate the activities of all patrons using recreation facilities at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center, Alf Sorensen Community Center or other facility location that may be assigned; ensure the safety of employees and citizens and provide surveillance at assigned facility; monitor swimming area, gymnasiums, rented rooms, offices, sports fields, bathroom/locker rooms and rental equipment; provide clerical support including receptionist duties.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with the public preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
Specified positions may require possession of the equivalent to a valid Nevada Class C driver's license within thirty days of hire.

CPR/AED and First Aid Certification is from a recognized institution is preferred.

Civil Service Testing:
This position is a temporary position and is not a Civil Service position. There is no civil service testing for this position.

Example of Essential Duties
Provide a positive image. Maintain a safe and friendly environment. Establish cooperative relationships with citizens. Provide the public with information pertaining to recreation activities; answer questions and provide assistance.

Educate employees and citizens of all ages about facility rules and regulations. Communicate clearly with patrons and program leaders about issues or concerns. Thoroughly understand and enforce all facility rules, policies and procedures. Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls and takes messages. Schedule appointments.

Maintain records and process forms such as registration packets and permit applications. Calculate and collect fees and issue receipts. Maintain basic financial records. Check and test registration screens on the computerized cash register for completeness and accuracy.

Notify Recreation Supervisor or designee of errors or discrepancies. Identify hazards and risks that might compromise the safety of patrons. Regularly inspect recreation facilities.

Report maintenance issues to Recreation Supervisor or emergency/maintenance staff when necessary. Complete written accident reports, incident reports and any other reports as needed. Perform the general cleaning and maintenance of the assigned facility.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and other duties which may be assigned.

Knowledge of
Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communications skills.
Superior customer service skills and effective communication skills.
Standard office practices and procedures and standard office equipment.
Knowledge of assigned facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.

Ability to
Communicate with the public effectively.
Present a positive role model.
Respond to requests and inquiries from the employees and citizens.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Make sound decisions, work independently and work in a stressful environment at times.

Physical Demands
Ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment.
Requires use of cleaning supplies and tools.

Supplemental Information
Must pass a detailed background and drug test.
Supervision Exercised: Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor or their designee, supervise the activities of recreation staff and citizens utilizing the facilities.
This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor or designee.
This is not a Civil Service position and is non-exempt under FLSA guidelines.
