Recreation Facility Maintenance Tech

Job Summary
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance and cleaning of the recreation and aquatics facility. Essential Functions

Maintains regular and reliable attendance with a physical presence.

Participates in snow removal operations; operates snow blower and hand blades on sidewalks; applies ice melting agents.

Cleans and disinfects areas within the facility.

Repairs or replaces lighting fixtures, light bulbs, toilet sensors, soap dispensers, etc.

Makes minor plumbing repairs.

Sweeps sidewalks, collects litter and empties trash receptacles, maintains flower beds, and trims trees and bushes.

Mows grass and trims weeds

Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and scrubs floors.

Washes, dries, folds, and stocks cleaning rags, mops, towels, etc.

Organizes and stocks materials and products.

Cleans pools and deck areas; erects and installs shade structures, slides, and other pool equipment; maintains pumps; winterizes pool at end of season.

Knowledge of custodial maintenance principles for public buildings.

Knowledge of public swimming pool maintenance principles.

Skill in the use of grounds maintenance equipment.

Skill in the use of snow removal equipment.

Skill in cleaning and sanitizing public buildings.

Skill in oral and written communications.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver"s license issued by the State of South Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Physical Requirements

The work is typically performed while standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, distinguishes between shades of color, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

The work is performed in recreation facilities and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
