Recreation Worker II: Child Care Supervisor PT 22-7-147 PT
Department: Leisure Services Salary Range: 23 ($12.53/hour)
Reports to: Recreation Assistant Manager - Recreation Center Supervises: none
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Assistant Manager, oversees the work of Childcare
Attendants and personally provides fun loving daycare by engaging and getting the children involved with toys and crafts to accommodate customers of the City of St. George Recreation Center.
Essential Functions (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. 1. Oversees the work of the Childcare Attendants
2. Scheduling of the Childcare Attendants
3. Responsible for working with the Assistant Recreation Manager in managing the allotted budget given for childcare and purchasing needed items
4. Assists in the interview and hiring process
5. Trains Childcare Attendants on procedures regarding appropriate touch, bathroom breaks, dealing with misbehaving children and paperwork
6. Responsible for overseeing the sanitation of toys and surfaces in the child care center.
7. Responsible for reviewing paperwork logs
8. Provides supervision to all children at the Recreation Center Child Care Center.
9. Provides assistance to the children while in the day care, including coloring with the children and playing games with them, all while keeping children safe from everyday accidents
10. Responsible for picking up and cleaning the area at the end of each shift
11. Ensures that children are cared for while adhering to the City’s child protection policy
12. Works with parents to ensure that all children have good experiences in the Child Care Center
13. Prevents and resolves possible conflicts between children
14. Performs other related duties as required
Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions
Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to physically respond quickly and appropriately
to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
Qualifications
Minimum Age: All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience working in a professional child care setting including experience with child safety and calming upset children
Experience overseeing the work of other part time employees preferred
Licenses and/or Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications including infant CPR and First
Aid must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to:
1. Calm upset children.
2. Knowledge of Federal and State Child Care regulations and practices.
3. Communicate with each child based on their individual needs and personalities.
4. Create a Monthly work schedule.
Skills:
1. Must be customer service oriented and have excellent public relations skills.
2. Must be able to multitask.
