What are the responsibilities and job description for the ZONING SPECIALIST (Community Development) position at City of Surprise, AZ?
SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties pertaining to customer information and assistance. Conducts extensive research, analysis, and prepares background reports on land use, zoning, and other planning related issues including: zoning verifications, interpretations, variances and nonconforming rights determinations. Participate in the review process and assist in the development of staff recommendations for variances, interpretations, appeals, and other routine development applications. Provides information, technical assistance and guidance to the public, other city staff, elected and appointed officials. May make some limited presentations. Conducts site and landscape inspections and other fieldwork as needed to ensure compliance with approved development plans.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two years related experience in planning, research plans and/or code and ordinance review sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
