The City of Sydney Libraries are seeking a Librarian with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and leading day-to-day branch operations.
Our Librarians play a leadership role supporting team leaders and managers, coaching staff in library best practice and engaging the community. We are looking for natural problem solvers with a collaborative working style and a willingness to give innovative ideas a go.
This exciting opportunity requires strong organisational ability, excellent conflict resolution skills along with confidence in mentoring, coaching and training others.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree qualification in a library or information related discipline and be eligible for
Associate membership to the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). - Demonstrated experience of excellent customer service skills including accuracy of
information, equity of access, user privacy and providing a welcoming experience to
visitors. - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including coaching and training.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in delivering on specialised library
services (e.g., Collections, programming, outreach/community engagement,
multicultural services). - Be able to work a weekend day as part of your regular weekly spread of hours to support a 7-day operation e.g., Tuesday – Saturday.
