POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION INFORMATION

WRITTEN EXAMINATION: Thursday, October 20, 2022

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

Examination begins at 6:00 p.m.

(NO ONE will be admitted to the exam after 6:00 p.m.)

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST: Saturday, November 5, 2022

Testing begins at 9:00 a.m.

(NO ONE will be admitted after 9:00 a.m.)

FEE FOR EXAMINATION: $25.00 non-refundable fee, payable at the time the application is submitted.

Applications may be picked up at the Wickliffe Police Department, 28730 Ridge Road,

Wickliffe, Ohio or are also available on the website at www.cityofwickliffe.com beginning

Tuesday, September 6th. Completed applications will be accepted at the Wickliffe Police

Department, starting Tuesday, September 6th until Sunday, October 9th. It is important that you file your application early as it may affect your position on the Civil Service Eligibility List in the event of a tie score.

QUALIFICATIONS & INSTRUCTIONS

. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.

. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and less than 32 years of age on the date of the written examination.

. Applicant must include a copy of his/her valid driver’s license with their application.

. Applicant must be a high school graduate or have obtained a GED certificate and provide a copy of the diploma or certificate or a copy of college degree with the application.

*. The passing score on the written examination is 70%. Applicants who are successful in passing the written examination will be invited to participate in a scored physical fitness test. The test will be composed of sit-ups, push-ups, and a 1.5 mile run. An applicant must meet the minimum requirement as set forth by the Ohio Peace Officer Training

Academy (“OPOTA”). Prior to the physical fitness test, each applicant will be required to sign a liability waiver.

. In addition, applicants will be required to pass a background investigation (including

CVSA), psychological examination, and medical examination.

. Written examination and physical fitness test scores will be weighted 50% each. A maximum of additional 7 points will be added for any one of the following, for applicants who show proof of: (a) an Honorable Discharge of military service, (b) a four-year college degree, (c) current service to the City of Wickliffe as a part-time law enforcement officer, and/or (d) a two-year law enforcement related degree (no more than 3.5 points).

Proof of these credentials must be submitted with the application.

. Completed application must be returned by applicant in person.

. Application must be notarized.

. A valid driver’s license will be required as identification for the testing.
