What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Ranger position at City of Wilmington?
This position provides general security to parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and other facilities. This is accomplished by abiding by parks policies, rules and regulations; maintaining effective public relations; responding to routine and emergency situations; and establishing effective working relationships with other city staff and citizens. The position will primarily serve at Greenfield Park and Riverfront Park.
- Oversee park security by preventing, detecting and communicating with the Police Department about disturbances as needed.
- Enforce departmental rules and regulations.
- Provide support serves/resource information to displaced persons.
- Patrol park areas, playgrounds, recreation centers, tennis courts and other parks and recreation buildings and facilities.
- Completion and report of accidents/incidents as they occur while on duty.
- Provide customer service by assisting park patrons.
- Testify in court as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and at least three (3) years of relevant experience.
Special Requirements
- Class C Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid and AED Certification within 180 days of hire.

- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local, state, security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interaction, and preventive healthcare measures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Position will require frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, fine dexterity, twisting, vision and hearing.WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position will be required to work outside during all seasons with minimal office work. Some weekends required.
Salary : $36,858 - $46,993
