Title: Janitor (Union)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a maintenance position with responsiblity for keeping the District's facilities clean. This is year round work, with exposure to heat, cold, rain, fumes, cleaning agents, and dust.
PREREQUISITIES:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Be capable of performing work that may require lifting approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties including activities that require reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending, standing, and good flexibility.
- Must demonstrate teamwork
- Must be able to read and understand all written District procedures, training materials, warning labels, and basic written instructions and verbal instructions.
- Have good attendance record at prior employer or school.
- Must be able to successfully complete a post offer employment physical and drug screen.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lifting and carrying items and equipment of approximately 80 pounds, safely and properly.
- Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions relating to warning labels, district policies, and supervisor instructions.
- Ability to perform all cleaning, fueling, and equipment operating functions assigned physically and safely to the position.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Clean assigned areas of all District facilities as directed such as sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, wiping, shoveling, cleaning facilities, polishing glass, removing smudges, mopping and vacuuming.
- Cleaning restrooms includes proper use of chemicals for tile, counters, and floors.
- Fueling, fluid checks, lubrication of buses in addition to any other necessary tasks as required by the Maintenance Department.
- Safely operate and minor maintenance on Floor Scrubber - Sweeper or other equipment necessary to perform this job duty.
- Complete all documentation of work completed in accordance with current GPMTD requirements in order to assure orderly, accurate recordkeeping.
- Keep debris and litter picked up from the ground surrounding facilities.
- Performs all job functions in accordance with GPMTD safety regulations, utilizing all required safety equipment.
- Assist other maintenance personnel as assigned.
- Perform other maintenance related duties as directed.
