What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey CAD Technician position at Civil Science?
Civil Science is currently looking to add a qualified Survey CAD Technician to our North Dakota team (Williston or Dickinson office). As a Survey CAD Technician, you will work closely with Project Managers, Professional Land Surveyors and Engineers, Project Engineers, Survey Crew Chiefs, and other project team members to create legal boundaries, descriptions, and plat maps; reduce survey data (from conventional GPS and LiDAR point clouds) to create topographic maps; and provide construction staking calculations for survey crew(s) utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D. This will be in support of survey and civil related project types including large-scale land development, infrastructure, transportation, and municipal utilities. The ideal candidate for this position is someone that excels in a fast paced, self-directed environment.
Requirements for a Survey CAD Technician:
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D to:
- reduce survey data and create topographic survey and terrain models/surfaces
- plot legal descriptions and create legal boundaries for plat maps, ALTA's, and other legal instruments
- create alignments, corridors, pipe networks, 3D terrain models, etc. to support data extraction or development for survey and construction staking tasks
- Experience with survey data field collection methods/procedures.
- Exposure to LiDAR data post-processing will be highly valued.
- Understanding of and an ability to review construction plans and drawings to prepare survey/construction staking data .
- 2 years of CADD experience with survey and/or civil engineering projects related to land development, municipal infrastructure/utilities, or transportation.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Eagerness to learn and evolve within a fast-paced environment.
