What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Engineer position at Clayco?
Clayco Design & Engineering (CDE) is looking for an experienced HVAC engineer to work on project designs. Engineer must be capable of working on many projects concurrently in both the chemical manufacturing and food and beverage environments.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Experience in both building and process HVAC including but not limited to: dust collection, fume extraction, central vacuum systems, refrigeration and freezer rooms, and personal comfort air systems.
- Confirm HVAC code requirements including but not limited to: ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, IBC, NFPA, etc.
- Experienced in both brownfield and greenfield project initiatives throughout all FEL stages.
- Field investigations and travel as required (keeping to a minimal).
- Produce HVAC project design basis documentation.
- Produce HVAC outline specification documentation.
- Produce system PFDs and P&IDs as project requires.
- Perform heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations.
- Perform system static pressure calculations.
- Perform room leak/pressurization calculations as required.
- Perform energy modeling when project requires.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors.
- Produce HVAC equipment list and submittals.
- Provide equipment utility requirements.
- Coordinate with other disciplines on roof loading, wall and floor penetrations, condensate lines, piping, clashes, etc.
- Lead HVAC design and scope walkthrough meetings with client typically in Navisworks 3D model
- Feel comfortable communicating with the client or client’s representatives as needed
General Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years’ of equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills
- General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
- Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency
