What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver Class B position at Clean Harbors?
Overview
Clean Harbors Logan Township, NJ is looking for Class B CDL Drivers/Equipment Operators to join their safety conscious team! Class B Operators will work alongside crew, daily, performing various tasks to include the operation water blasters, vacuum trucks, tankers, towing of various pieces of equipment in preparation for jobs, assisting team with setup/breakdown of work sites, etc. Industrial Service Operators are not the typical over the road driver. Typically the operator will transport equipment/materials to a customer’s site, assist the team with job preparations, complete daily job duties and then return equipment to branch or transport waste generated during work to designated disposal facility.

Responsibilities
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
- Picks up waste from Clean Harbors facilities or customer locations utilizing vans and tankers;
- Loads and offloads the truck at distribution centers and at branch locations;
- Adheres to weights and ensures proper utilization of the units;
- Properly secures the loads;
- Guarantees placarding of vehicle to meet Company and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements/regulations;
- Maintains daily logs, time sheets, expense reports, dispatch and trip reports as well as vehicle inspection reports.
Qualifications
- Class B CDL, required
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements preferred;
- TWIC Card preferred;
- HAZPOWER Training preferred;
- Must have general knowledge on driving/operation of DOT vehicles and DOT rules and regulations;
- Previous Manual Labor experience in Construction or Industrial based setting strongly preferred;
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions;
- Ability to work somewhat changing schedules, short notice emergency response, work weekends and occasional travel for short durations.
- Previous experience operating Vacuum/Combo-Units units preferred;
- Operation of specific vacuum systems can be learned during on the job training.
