Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education
Master’s degree preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to use sign language, knowledge of Deaf culture and proficiency in total communication
Ability to work well with a variety of adults and children
Ability to be flexible and coordinate scheduling of services
Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and demonstrated competency in the subject(s) assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Openness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate
Experience
One year of classroom experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • To provide direct and indirect services to itinerantly served students.
  • Maintain and submit a weekly schedule of activities and assignments to the Director of GBCDHH.
  • Coordinate with the classroom teacher for implementation of the IEP and auditory training program.
  • Consult with support staff on an as need basis.
  • Guide the learning of students in accordance with the district’s and GBCDHH’s philosophy of education toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Develop lesson plans and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students assigned, incorporating needed modifications based on abilities and learning styles, hearing and language levels, and additional disabilities.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and use results to plan and implement instruction.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Participate in ARD preparation and conduct Communication Assessments to plan robust programs that meet student need including PLAAFPs, goals, objectives, accommodations modifications, supplements and other applicable sections.
  • Offer accelerated instruction to each student who meets any of the state “at risk” criteria for the student to perform satisfactorily on the state assessment.
  • Work cooperatively with the campus and district instructional supervisors, leaders, and department heads to improve instruction.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to campus and district requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Use available technologies as appropriate teaching and learning tools.
  • Integrate the instruction of technology into subject area teaching.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteers.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines regarding confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, and other staff members.
  • Respond to parent phone calls/messages in a timely manner.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with CCISD Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Provides for care and protection of school property and be held accountable for books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Maintains accurate student accounting and grading records in compliance with local and state requirements.
  • Assist in upholding and implementing administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Exhibit CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
  • Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.
  • Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  • Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.
  • Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  • Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  • Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  • Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Mental Demands
Ability to communicate effectively spoken/written English, maintain emotional control while working with students and adults; able to repair communication breakdowns; maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Repetitive hand mons; bending; stooping; walking; moving textbooks, media equipment, desks, and lifting to 40 pounds.
