What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural/Animal Associate II - Poultry Research Center position at Clemson University?
This position will manage the new Poultry Research Center at Piedmont Research and Education Center. This individual will be involved with construction design and oversight, building system technology, and implementation of all facility systems. Upon opening, manage all daily operations of the new Poultry Research Center. This position reports to the Director of PREC. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Facility Management: Serve as project coordinator for facility related construction and related projects advising Director as necessary. Plan, organize, and initiate actions related to buildings and equipment construction, selection, operation, and maintenance. Lead-facilitate decision making process for facility management, technology, and innovation. Understand, operate, trouble-shoot industry current facility control systems (ventilation, water, feed, egg processing, manure handling). Provide daily management of new poultry research center facilities upon opening.
40% - Essential - Operations: Plan, coordinate, and participate in the daily operation of new poultry research center activities. Act independently in daily decisions related to poultry production, care, feed and material procurement and inventories. Facilitate research, teaching, and outreach activities to successfully meet user expectations. Maintain compliance with SOP, AUP, CAMM, University IACUC, and AAALAC standards. Successfully utilize technology systems to monitor facility, bird, and processes to optimize operations.
20% - Essential - Staff Management: Provide supervision and training to staff and student employees. Provide written and oral communication to staff, students, and faculty users. Coordination of labor to accomplish center activity demands. Responsible for determining staffing needs, leave approval, performance evaluation, and hiring of student employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and work experience directly related to the field.

Education - Master's Degree - Animal-Poultry Science or related field
Confined Animal Manure Manager certified
