Branch Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual at Clesens, the leading turf and irrigation product and service provider in Chicago. This is a multifaceted position with responsibilities in warehouse management, employee management and customer service/sales. We would prefer the candidate have turf and/or horticulture experience to be able to relate well to our customers in these fields, but its not required. We would also prefer that the candidate have a background and working knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance. This person should be articulate and organized with strong social aptitude that will develop long lasting relationships with our company’s clientele. Most importantly, a team member that will help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.`

Some type of horticultural management experience or horticulture advanced degree is required.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Take Phone Calls from customers, suppliers and freight companies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
As Branch Manager:

  • Oversees Mokena warehouse
  • Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and inspiring employees.
  • Maintain the Mokena store, warehouse and inventory in a clean, neat and organized manner.
  • Direct/assist other warehouse managers at other locations in doing the same and initiating new ideas for better performance of all locations.
  • Coordinates and leads meetings for enhanced performance of all warehouses.
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with inventory system.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Dispatch/Route shipments, deliveries, UPS and transfers.
  • Promote and monitor quality service to customers by employees, both at the branch facilities and at client locations.
  • Organize tasks and duties for the employees on a daily basis and specifically direct the employees on individual assignments.
  • Coordinate and direct employee activities and tasks to maximize productivity and control costs in concert with the budget.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment making changes as needed.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Maintain sales floor and display areas to effectively merchandise the company products.
  • Maintain Product Files, Labels and MSDS.
  • Maintain company’s policy and procedures in relation to employees conduct and initiate/administrate action plans for performance improvement.
  • Complete Performance Appraisals on those employees who work under your supervision in a timely fashion as dictated by company performance appraisal policy.
  • Enforce safety rules and ensure that OSHA regulations are being followed and issue corrective action, with documentation at the occurrence of any infraction.
  • Schedule hourly labor in accordance to company needs
  • Prepare all required paperwork, as well as, but not limited to, time clock, inventory, supply requests, employee documents.
  • Communicate with manager to keep him informed of the general performance within your areas of responsibility and about any specific problems.

As Customer Service Representative:

  • Enter customer orders into the computer order entry system.
  • Communicate with customer or Field Sales Representative to avoid errors or guess work.
  • Provide all necessary in-house support for outside Field Sales Reps.
  • Keep customer files and CRM up to date.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and communicate with co-workers to promote team oriented work environment.
  • Complete billing on a daily basis.

  • Minimum one year of job related experience from any of the following positions: operations management, warehouse management, fleet management, turf management, landscape management.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license. Preference for those that have Class A CDL.

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS

  • A two year Associates Degree or four year Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution. Preferred degrees in any of the following: business administration, operations management, warehouse management, mechanics, automotive technology, turf management, horticulture, landscape management

DESIRED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have the ability to operate a PC in order to utilize order entry software, e-mail software and Microsoft office products, specifically MS Word, Excel
  • Ability to learn broad and specific knowledge of the organization's products and services
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
