Apprentice Tool & Die Maker
Cannon Automotive Solutions, a division Cleveland-Cliffs Tooling and Stamping, has an immediate opportunity for a Apprentice Tool & Die Maker in our Windsor, Ontario Hot Stamping Facility. The Tool & Die Maker Apprentice is responsible for working with experienced tool & die makers to learn the skills of the trade. The ideal candidate will have good manual dexterity, be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Use a hands-on approach to learn all basic aspects of the tool & die trade
- Fabricate new tooling within required quotas and due dates
- Disassemble and assemble all types of dies; perform all types of revisions and upgrades
- Changeover all types of die parts run different parts
- Become proficient in all operations necessary to accomplish new builds and repairs
- Handle dies with hoists, die trucks, and power-assisted trucks
- Attend schooling during apprentice’s own time, while simultaneously working full-time hours; Enrollment in 1-2 classes per semester and completion of is required.
- Maintain excellent safety, attendance, and performance records
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning and retaining knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive duties and movements
- Ability to stand/ bend for long periods of time and lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Able to work 3-shift model: Midnights, Days, Afternoons, and required OT
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 to 2 years in a mechanical setting
- Proficient organization skills
