Clinical Technician – Oncology

Caregivers in Martin North Hospital’s 3W Oncology Unit provide exceptional care to patients with cancer and have the opportunity to float to other units. Management is very supportive of caregivers advancing their careers and taking on leadership positions.
A caregiver in this position works 6:00am – 6:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Complete an internal training program within two weeks of start date.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED.
Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).
Additional education/training may substitute for some or all the required experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
