As a Lead Cardiac Monitor Technician, you will supervise Cardiac Monitor Technicians and maintain the clinical operations of the Central Monitoring Unit. You will monitor staff performance and equipment/computer function; communicate status to Nurse Managers and Supervisor, as well as monitor telemetry-recognizing pertinent arrhythmias and subsequent notification of the nursing unit.

Responsibilities:
- Organizes and coordinates daily assignments for cardiac monitor techs.
- Assesses cardiac monitor technician competency requirements.
- Provides assistance to cardiac monitor techs having difficulty with complex interpretation.
- Assures appropriate staffing levels for upcoming shift.
- Assists Supervisor with identifying the educational needs of the cardiac monitor technicians.
- Assures completion of Cardiac Monitor Techs daily event logs/communication logs.
- Participates in quality assurance improvement projects.
- Utilizes escalation process to notify appropriate staff when communication barriers are occurring between the CMU and nursing unit for arrhythmia notification.
- Accurately interprets EKG strips to include: rhythm, rate, PR, QRS and QT interval.
- Proficiency in telemonitoring equipment.
Education:
- High School Graduate or GED.
Certifications:
- None required.
Complexity of Work:
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment, irregular hours, be flexible in work situations and display initiative.
Work Experience:
- One year of experience as a RN/LPN, EMT, Med Assist, Cardiovascular Tech or relevant experience.
- Excellent EKG interpretation skills, supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires frequent sitting and computer entry.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
