What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yoga Instructor position at Cleveland Clinic?
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to the techniques presented in the Yoga classes
- Communicates class attendance and any class needs with Fitness Center staff and management when conducting class on Fitness Center premises
- Lead Yoga classes/programs in a variety of settings for employees, patients, and/or community in a group setting or one-on-one
- Sets up facility and creates an environment necessary for the techniques
- Attends required meetings, offers feedback and completes paperwork and compliance courses as directed
- Conducts yoga classes in a safe, kind and compassionate manner
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- High School diploma
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (advanced related subjects a plus)
Languages:
- English language required.
- Spanish fluency is preferred.
Certifications:
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certification from a Yoga Alliance or International Association of Yoga Therapist approved school: RYT 500, RYT 200, E-500 RYT, or C-IAYT
- Additional meditation/mindfulness and other related wellness topics training is a plus
- First Aid preferred
- For Hospice caregivers only: Valid Ohio Driver’s License upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.
- For Hospice caregivers only: Proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with varied groups and adapt to participants needs and wants
- Flexibility of hours
- Ability to communicate and give feedback to manager
- Basic computer skills
- Conduct virtual classes (live and pre-recorded), in addition to in-person classes
- Experience and comfort working in a fitness, clinical, and/or non-clinical setting with participants of varied levels of experience
- Willingness to learn and teach Cleveland Clinic approved styles of yoga
Work Experience:
- Minimum six months experience in a fitness environment or one year experience in a studio setting. Three or more years of experience is preferred.
Additional experience that is encouraged but not required:
- Actively working as a Yoga Therapist for extended period of time (3-5 years)
- Experience running group classes specific to disease processes
- Some experience participating in research
- Creating and developing programs
- Presentation skills and community outreach
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically execute all classes
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- Requires periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic to attend meetings
- Must have transportation and willing to potentially travel to multiple sites
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as require

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $18.88
Maximum hourly: $28.80
