This position is responsible for the organization and implementation of the Local Health Department Accreditation process required by the State of North Carolina on a four-year cycle. This position also coordinates marketing and social media activities for all the programs/services offered by the Cleveland County Health Department. Finally, this position provides health education through group and individual encounters and engages community members in a variety of settings on identified and emerging health issues in Cleveland County as assigned. Work is performed and supervised under the Deputy Health Director. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position frequently is required to provide evening and weekend educational programs and support for Health Department events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the Agency Accreditation Coordinator, which includes but not limited to, overseeing all agency accreditation policies and procedures, scheduling activities and data collection/tracking systems to assure agency readiness for Local Health Department Accreditation, and completing annual checklists required to show compliance with accreditation standards in the years not scheduled for accreditation review. Work with information technology staff to assure that all policies and procedures are maintained on the agency Intranet to make them available to all staff members and to ensure readiness for accreditation review; establish a work plan for agency accreditation and meet regularly with program staff to consult and review applicable program standards; coordinate meetings with local and state accreditation teams to ensure access to required documentation, meetings with community representatives and visits to program sites, and maintain an online dashboard for the submission and review of evidence required for accreditation and ensure benchmarks and activities are accurately completed and submitted by the required due dates. Coordinate all intentional marketing for programs/services offered by the Cleveland County Health Department, including but not limited to, all forms of media, including social media channels, work with internal service teams to determine the most effective marketing tools for their respective programs and coordinate the implementation of these marketing/outreach efforts, develop and implement targeted marketing/outreach programming as directed by the Health Director to support all components of the Community Wellness Improvement Plan as well as building relationships with community partners to engage a higher proportion of county residents in wellness activities. Provide general support for activities involving the health education/health promotion unit on an as-needed basis. Such activities may include but are not limited to presentations to individuals and groups throughout the county on current and emerging health issues, facilitating community engagement through specific presentations to targeted audiences and participating in community-based coalitions and councils addressing health issues in the county. Serve as a back-up instructor for classroom-based programs on an emergency basis and will be proficient in delivery of evidence-based programs offered by the health education/health promotion unit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the functions of public health agencies; ability to organize and implement a four-year agency-wide accreditation process working with internal and external accreditation teams; ability to maintain information dashboard to track accreditation process ensuring compliance with all benchmarks and activities. Competency in developing and implementing marketing programs using multiple media formats; thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in preparing and disseminating educational information and programs; thorough knowledge of techniques involved in preparing graphic materials, exhibits and visual aids. Ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, educational and community organizations and peers. Ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Exhibit competency in developing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based community health programs focusing on specific health issues; ability to organize and direct activities for a variety of audiences; ability to plan and carry out evaluation processes.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in public health administration, public health discipline or public administration and 3-5 years' experience in a health-related agency, preferably a public health agency or equivalent combination of education and experience.
